Stanley John “Lefty” Ejzak, Jr., 85, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Southington Care Center. He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Rovella) Ejzak, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in New Britain on November 27, 1928, he was the last surviving of five children to the late Stanley and Rose Merkle Ejzak, Sr. He graduated from New Britain High School, where he met the love of his life, Gloria, whom he married shortly after. Mr. Ejzak proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class earning a Silver Star for his heroism. He and Gloria settled in Plainville in 1961, where they raised their family of three. A master engineer and designer, Mr. Ejzak worked for various manufacturing companies, retiring in 1997 from Reflexite. The all-around handy man, Lefty found the greatest amount of joy in helping his family around their homes, and fixing just about anything that needed repair. He had a love for golf and enjoyed frequent card games with his friends. A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed, leaving many cherished memories.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Bruce and his wife, Kristy of Barkhamsted, Laura Perun and her husband, Gary of Plainville, Susan Brown and her husband, Eric of Centerbrook; his grandchildren, Tracy and Douglas Perun, Alex and Kelsey Ejzak, and Jared Brown; his sister-in-law, Virginia Whitehouse and her husband, Whitey of Niantic; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Walter and Zygmund, and his sisters, Lucy Gwiazda and Florence Szczepanik.
Funeral services in celebration of Mr. Ejzak’s life will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 110 Main St, Farmington. Committal services with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Family and friends may gather on Monday evening, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
