Philip Leon Osle

October 13, 1945 ~ March 17, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Philip Leon Osle, 71, of Unionville, formerly of Plainville, passed away with his precious family by his side on Friday, March 17, 2017.  Phil was the best friend and soul mate of Shirley Osle, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years.

Born in Bristol on October 13 1945, he was one of four children to the late Leon of Santander, Spain and Mary (Posadas) Osle of Plainville. Raised in Plainville, he attended local schools, and served his country in the U.S. Army in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1972.  Upon his return home, he met the love of his life, Shirley, who he happily married that November after seven months of dating.  They settled in their hometown where they raised their three girls, moving to Unionville in 1988. “Butch” as he was known to his family and friends, was proud to point out his many curbing and paving jobs he did during his 25 years working for Tilcon, from where he retired in 2010. Before working at Tilcon, Phil had worked at Plainville Casting for 13 years. His hard work was admired by many, especially his girls who benefitted from his handy man skills at each of their homes on a regular basis.  Phil enjoyed his retirement years taking annual trips to Florida, taking cruises, going to NASCAR races and especially enjoyed hosting family and friends fireside at their camper at Nelson’s in East Hampton. He was a member of the VFW Post 574 of Plainville and the American Legion. Phil’s love for his family was unparalleled.  He supported their many endeavors, cheered them at sporting events, volunteered alongside them, and always went to great lengths for his girls.  A true gentleman and immediate friend to all, he will be missed tremendously by the many lives he touched, forever leaving a legacy of kindness, laughter and love.

In addition to his beloved wife, Shirley, he leaves his daughters, Cynthia Marie Osle-Elmer and her husband, Ralph; Carissa Renee Osle-Sherman and her husband, Eric, and Sara Cristina Osle, all of Plainville; his adored granddaughters "Papí's Peanuts" who will miss their Papi, Ali and Bri Elmer, Bella Cistulli, Emma and Kiera Sherman and step grandchildren CJ Elmer and Tyler St. Peter, his sisters Jean Gonsalves of Westfield, Ma, and her children Laura and Buddy,  Sarah Gatchell of Searsport, ME and her children Steven and Wayne and Cathy Sonnenberg and husband Andre of Avon and their children, Shelby, Shannon and Spencer along with many nieces and  nephews, including Kenny Williams, Dawn Wood and Pam Conklin, as well as many dear friends.  He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, George Gonasalves of Granville, Ma and Bill Gatchell of Searsport, ME.
