Welcome to the memorial page for

Jane Ursula Dickman

July 16, 1924 ~ July 15, 2014 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Jane Ursula (Snyder) Dickman, 89, of Southington, formerly of Plainville, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, one day before her 90th birthday.  She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert L. Dickman, who predeceased her 25 years ago.
Born in Bristol on July 16, 1924, she was one of four children to the late Losee and Ursula (Lawrence) Snyder.  A resident of Plainville since the age of five, she attended local schools, graduating from Plainville High School in 1943. She married Robert in 1950, and remained in Plainville where they raised their daughter, Jane and shared a wonderful life together.  Jane enjoyed working for the public in the administrative field right out of high school. During her career she was employed for New Britain Machine Company, Plainville Civil Defense, and the Plainville Water Company. She retired in 1986, moving to Southington two years later where she currently resided.  Jane was a lady in every sense, with a quick wit and spirited personality that everyone knew and loved, and never left the house without looking her best.
She will be greatly missed by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Jane and William Buden of Southington; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Bertha Dickman of Bristol and Florence Dickman of Southington.  She was predeceased by her twin sister, Jean Flora Snyder as an infant, and her brothers, Edward Snyder and Earl “Tickey” Snyder.
A special thank you is extended to Jane’s caregivers at Countryside Manor for the care shown to her during her brief illness, and for the many years of compassion and kindness from Dr. Shanmugan and his staff.
Funeral services in celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St. Plainville.  Family and friends may gather prior to the service, from 9:30-11 a.m.  Committal services will follow at West Cemetery.  Those who wish may remember Jane with contributions to the Plainville Rotary Club, PO Box 484, Plainville or the Plainville United Methodist Church, 56 Redstone Hill, Plainville, CT 06062.
