William Allen Claffey, Sr., 70, of Plainville, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.
William was born April 5, 1948 in Hartford, a son of the late William A. and Doris (Greenier) Claffey. He was a graduate of Plainville High School and had been employed by Fafnir Bearing, Apex Machine Tool and EDAC Technologies until his retirement. William loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed watching movies. William was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.
He leaves his daughters, Sarah Claffey of Moodus and Elizabeth Claffey-Jones and her husband John of Burlington, his son, William Claffey, Jr. and his wife Amy of Old Saybrook, his sisters, Arlene Anderson of Florida, Marsha Badal of Burlington and Debra Marek of Southington, his grandchildren, Christina Claffey, Michael Dorsey, Joshua Jones, Devin Jones, William Claffey and Henry Claffey and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Kelly Claffey and his brother John Loftquist.
A Memorial Mass in celebration of William’s life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church 94 Broad Street in Plainville. There are no calling hours.
