Verna M. (Thibodeau) Paradis

Verna M. (Thibodeau) Paradis, daughter of the late Adolph and Modeste (Martin) Thibodeau passed away Sunday June 2, 2019 at the UConn Health, John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington surrounded by her loving family.

Verna was born March 19, 1938 in Van Buren, Maine. She married the love of her life Norman Paradis on July 2, 1955. She and Norman moved to Connecticut in 1960 and raised their 5 children. Verna enjoyed spending time with her family, summer trips to the Rhode Island Shore, casino trips to Mohegan Sun, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Plainville for many years where she taught CCD. She became a member of St. Matthew Parish in Forestville in 1988.

Besides her loving husband Norman of 63 years, she leaves her daughters, Norma Tracz and her husband John of Plainville, CT, Diane Hamalian and her husband Mark of Bristol, CT, Carol (Cookie) Stagis and her husband Rob of Bristol, CT and Sandy Durant and her husband Bill of Longs, SC, her son, Steven Paradis and his wife Rachel of Bristol, CT. She also leaves her treasured grandchildren, Nicole Gilbert, Amanda Evaristo, Karyn Durant, Allison Tracz, Christine Finland, Aaron Parsons, Joseph Durant, Abigail Paradis and Matthew Paradis, 5 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Samantha Gilbert, Harrison, Samuel and Lillian Evaristo, her siblings, Mildred Soucy of Fort Kent, Maine, Martin and Muriel Thibodeau of The Villages, FL, Theresa and Carl Danielson of Windsor, CT and Fr. Raynold Thibodeau, OFM, CAP of Yonkers, NY and her sister-in-law, Edwina Thibodeau of Van Buren, Maine. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Family and friends may gather at the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Verna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St Matthew Church 120 Church Avenue in the Forestville section of Bristol. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol will be celebrated privately.
