Therese L. Sevigny, 94, of Plainville passed away in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Southington on December 10, 2019. She is now reunited with her loving husband, the late Jean Marie Sevigny.
Therese was born on May 18, 1925 daughter to the late Napoleon and Zelia (Lapierre) Quirion. She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Southington. From a young age helping to raise her siblings, Therese naturally acquired the skills of being a good mother and carried that on while raising her own children. She loved flowers and was a good gardener, planting a mix of flowers and vegetables. Therese also enjoyed many different arts and crafts and was very talented with all that she did. She found joy in crocheting and knitting, and quickly became the knitting “teacher” for all of her colleagues willing to learn while working at General Electric, up until her retirement in 1985. She was also a member of the Plainville Senior Center.
Therese is survived by her sons, Jean Marie Sevigny Jr., Maurice Sevigny (Elayne), Yves Sevigny, Gilles Sevigny (Jeaninne), Robert Sevigny (Sylvia), and Andre Sevigny (Lorie), her daughters, Johanne Gilmour and Lucie Spielman, her sisters, Colombe Adams and Marie-Paule Boucher, and her brother, Beniot Quirion, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Yvette Lavern and her brother, Bertrand Quirion.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. A service in celebration of Therese’s life will be held at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
