Rebecca Webber Tribute

Rebecca A. “Becky” (Rice) Webber, 80, of Southington passed away early Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain following a courageous 10 month battle with breast cancer. She is now reunited with her loving husband, Wayne C. Webber, who predeceased her on January 22, 2019. Together they shared over 60 years of marriage.

Becky was born on May 25, 1939 in Damariscotta, Maine daughter to the late Mervin and Elizabeth (Haley) Rice. She grew up in Maine attending school in a one-room schoolhouse and she was a cheerleader. While working at the Waltz Pharmacy, she met the love her life, Wayne and they were married August 24, 1957. Together they moved to CT and later established a home in Southington, where she has been a resident for many years, although Maine remained to be her true home. She was a talented seamstress, always sharing her beautiful work with her family. Becky also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. In addition, she loved playing Bingo and enjoyed shopping, even if she wasn’t going to purchase anything. She spent many summers on the lake in Damariscotta and camping at Hidden Acres. Becky was an avid UCONN fan and attended 5 Final Fours and was hoping to attend more. Becky’s family was her world, and she cherished the time she spent surrounded by her loved ones. Holidays were especially important and very much so enjoyed by Becky, as it meant family was to be together. Her famous apple pie and her cake with special frosting was always enjoyed by others and is something her family will miss and carry on the recipes. It would be an understatement to say that Becky’s family will miss her dearly, as she was the matriarch of a very loving, generous and close knit family. They will forever cherish the time spent with her and the legacy she has left behind.

Becky is survived by her son, Timothy Webber of Walpole, ME, her daughters, Deborah Walls and her husband Michael of East Hartford, Sherry Webber and Elizabeth Maglio both of Bristol, her grandchildren, Sarah White and her husband Matt, Katherine Harris and her husband Brian, Samantha Webber, Tyler Webber, Jacob Maglio, Emily Maglio and Joseph Maglio, III, her great-grandchildren, Anabel Webber, John Wayne Harris, Jackson Webber, Rebecca Harris and Charlotte White, and her brothers Chester and David Rice. In addition, she leaves several nieces, nephews, and extended family throughout CT and ME. She was predeceased by her sister Adele McFarland.
