Raymond G. Corsini

After a courageous battle with cancer, Raymond G. Corsini, 85, of Plainville, CT passed away on November 24, 2017. Born on February 24, 1932 in Bronx, NY. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, Ray’s entrepreneurial spirit steered his career until he retired. Ray’s compassion, work ethic and commitment to the community guided his success. He used his knowledge of local housing to connect tenants to HUD housing. He was also instrumental in establishing St. Philip House and The Plainville Affordable Housing Corporation, both organizations service people in need. Ray was involved with many charitable organizations throughout the community.

Ray was an integral part of Our Lady of Mercy Church, having been an active parishioner for over 50 years. He served on many boards including: The Central Connecticut Regional Substance Abuse Action Council, Main Street Community Foundation, Tunxis Community College Foundation, Girl Scouts, and most importantly, the Wheeler Clinic. Ray’s kindness will live on through these philanthropic organizations and the work that they do in the community.

In his free time, Ray earned a Master Gardener Certification through UCONN. He used that knowledge to support numerous community gardens created to feed local food banks. His passion for learning continued when he joined The Wine Society. He became a mentor to many amateur winemakers and created wonderful memories throughout the years.

Ray is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine (Trieste) Corsini. He is also survived by his loving children, Lori (Corsini) and Dave Brantner, of Charlotte, NC and Mary (Corsini) and Michael McDonald of Chalfont, PA. Ray, also known as Pop Pop, was adored by his seven grandchildren: Collin, Casey, Emily Brantner and Samantha, Ally, Corinne, Kelsey McDonald. His famous egg crème root beer floats, the "works" pancakes, and homemade pizza will continue among the traditions carried out by his grandchildren.

We were blessed to learn many lessons from Ray. Everyone who met him was touched by his vibrant, kind soul, his incredible positive attitude, and his passion for life. He will be sorely missed, but we know that his deep faith will allow him to be in a better place free from the constraints of his illness.

Their dedication to finding a cure and compassion towards Ray was admirable. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. The viewing will take place on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 AM at the church.
