Raymond R. Caya

Mr. Raymond R. Caya, 95, of Plainville passed away Wednesday November 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Rivers) Caya, who was the love of his life and with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Raymond was born December 12, 1921 in Grand Mere, Quebec, Canada a son of the late Herve’ and Rose (Gauthier) Caya. He proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army-Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific attaining the rank of Sergeant. Raymond worked in the clothing field and was employed at Lands Men’s Shop and later Raymond’s Men’s Shop both in Bristol, retiring after many years of service. Along with his wife Shirley, he was a Tupperware distributor in the 1970’s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3544 of Plainville. His faith was very important to him and he was a longtime Communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Raymond will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Raymond leaves his daughter, Shirley L. Caya of Bristol, his grandson Troy R. Caya of Bristol, five grandchildren, his great grandson, many nieces and nephews and Grace Dagata, who Raymond and Shirley raised as a daughter. He was predeceased by his son, Jerry Caya, his brothers, Benoit and Roger Caya and his sister Mona Caya.

Funeral services for Raymond will be celebrated on Tuesday November 14, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Our Lady of Mercy Church 94 Broad Street in Plainville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Plainville. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday November 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 3544 55 Whiting Street Plainville, CT 06062.
