Philip S. Mills

Philip S. Mills, 69, of Newington, formerly of Plainville, passed away Wednesday September 20, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Karen (Swenson) (Ciarci) Mills.

Philip was born June 1, 1948 in New Britain a son of the late Stanley and Mary (Corrigan) Mills and was a longtime Plainville resident. He attended Plainville schools and was a graduate of Plainville High School. Philip was a talented Toolmaker and had worked for Adchem in Manchester as well as Fletcher – Terry Manufacturing and New England Airfoil both in Farmington, retiring after many years of service. His additional schooling consisted of several advanced training courses pertaining to his profession. He enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot. Philip loved classic cars and was the proud owner of a Camaro and Corvette. He also loved all kinds of music and was a talented guitarist. Philip’s artistic talents also stretched into wood working, where he was known for his intricate scrollwork. He loved traveling with his wife, but especially enjoyed spending time with all of his family. 

Besides his devoted wife Karen, he leaves his daughter, Jessica Cook and her husband Nick of Bristol and his grandsons, Michael Allen and Anthony Barresi, his brothers and sister, George Mills and Kathy Knox of Plainville, Eileen Morgan and her husband Robert of Longmeadow, Ma. and Alan Mills and his wife Lois of Southington, his stepchildren, Paula Pisano of South Windsor, Joe Ciarci and his wife Valli of East Haddam, Marcella Ferrara and her husband Stephen of Okemos, Mi. and Paul Ciarci, Jr. and his wife Wendy of North Granby as well as many step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Philip’s life will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church 94 Broad Street in Plainville. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Plainville. Family and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society 701 Russell Road Newington, CT 06111.
