Linda (Goodwill) Kogut

Linda (Goodwill) Kogut, 76 of Plainville, passed away Saturday May 12, 2018 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She was the loving wife of Michael R. Kogut. Linda and Michael were married on October 17, 1981.

Linda was born July 1, 1941 in Vermont a daughter of the late Richard and Helen (Word) Goodwill and was a longtime Plainville resident. She was a 1960 graduate of Plainville High School, a 1964 graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA and later earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She began her career as a teacher in the Bristol school system and later as a social worker for the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Youth Services, from where she retired with over 30 years of service. Linda’s maiden name of Goodwill fit her perfectly, as she always thought of others before herself. She was a member of AARP, the Plainville Choral Society and the Plainville Senior Center, where she was also a member of the choir. Linda had a beautiful voice and loved singing at area nursing homes. She also enjoyed music, loved animals, especially her cats and looked forward to traveling with her friends at the Senior Center. Linda was also a longtime member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Besides her devoted husband Michael, Linda leaves several cousins and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Goodwill.

Family and friends may gather at the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville on Monday morning May 21, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A service in celebration of Linda’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately.
