Leo Lavigne Tribute

Leo J. Lavigne, 91, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Bristol Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of the late Barbara (Barrett) Lavigne.

Leo was born July 30, 1927 in New Britain, a son of the late Napoleon and Mary (Demers) Lavigne. He attended Plainville High School. In late 1945 Leo enlisted in the US Army, and proudly served our country with the 11th Airborne Division, 675th Battalion, being discharged in 1947 with the rank of Sergeant. Upon his discharge, Leo attended the Hobart Welding School in Troy, Ohio, returning home to begin his career as a Steel Fabricator. Leo was employed at City Iron in Hartford for 6 years, National Steel in Newington for 17 years and finished his career at Topper & Griggs of Plainville, retiring after 18 years of service. After his retirement, Leo enjoyed playing pool at the Bristol Senior Center.

Leo’s family would like to thank the Staff of Bristol Hospital and Village Green as well as the staff and residents of Komanetsky Estates for their care and concern over the last several months.

Leo leaves his sons, Keith Lavigne, Brian Lavigne and his wife Holly, and Paul Lavigne and his wife Vandana; his daughters, Sharon Lavigne Sprenger and her husband Ken, and Laura Wieleba; and his grandchildren, Aaron, Jamie, Amy, Mark, Savannah, Sean, Tiara, Robbie and Anthony. He was predeceased by his brother Roger N. Lavigne and his son-in-law Paul Wieleba.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 1st, between 9:00 and 11:00am at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville, with a short service at 11:00am at the home. A procession will follow to Saint Joseph’s Cemetery for burial. Burial will be with military honors. Family and friends are invited to a reception afterwards.
