Layton Snow Tribute

Layton Orville Snow, 77, of Naples, Florida and West Hartford, Connecticut died peacefully at Avow Hospice of Naples on April 25, 2018 after a fall.

Layton was born on September 26, 1940 in New Britain, Connecticut, the son of Clifford and Flora (Kelsey) Snow. He graduated from Southington High School in 1958, proudly served in the Navy for two years and then earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Central Connecticut State University.  He was an educator in the West Hartford Public Schools for 33 years teaching in both elementary and middle schools, serving as a teaching specialist, and mentoring new teachers. After his retirement he became a Florida resident enjoying the warmth of Naples' winters and the beauty of Connecticut's summers. A spiritual and witty man, he was a member of West Hartford United Methodist Church and of the Church's Men's Club. He loved being with with his family, was active at his condominium association, traveled extensively with his wife Ellen and tried his best at golf.

Layton is survived by his wife of 27 years: Eleanor Maichack-Snow; his children: Patrick Snow of Wethersfield, CT, Donald Reese Snow of New York City and Lynn Snow- Lennox (John) of Moorestown, NewJersey; his grandchildren: Sydney and Jack Snow; his siblings: Donald Snow and Deborah Snow Caves of West Hartford, CT and several cousins and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Layton's life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at West Hartford United Methodist Church, 1358 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06110. An additional life celebration is being planned for the fall in Naples, FL.
