John F. Decker, Jr.

John F. Decker, Jr, 69 of Plainville, CT passed away Friday January 5, 2018 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT.

John was born December 15, 1948 in Scranton, PA, the beloved son of Hazel (Heidt) Decker and the late Jack Decker. He was a 1967 Graduate of Plainville High School and later attended Fitchburg Junior College for a year. He proudly served in the Marine Corps and in 1969 John received the National Defense Service Medal. John worked as a disc jockey in Madawaska, Maine for a short period of time and then began his 25 years at general Electric in Plainville and also worked part time at Tunxis Country Club for many years.

Besides his mother Hazel, John leaves his son, William John Decker and Bill’s wife Althea of Charlotte, NC, his sister, Judy Sirois and her husband Gee of Wells, Maine, his grandchildren, Kayla and Nathaniel Decker, his niece, Meghan Littlefield, and nephews Andre’ and Lucien Sirois and their families.

Our family wishes to thank to Joanne and Krista from Aging Care, LLC for their many hours and years of devotion, dedication, advocation and support of John and the family. We want to extend a special thank you to the Critical Care Unit at the Hospital of Central Connecticut for treating John with such gentle care. Thank you to the nurses and staff on C2 at Grand View for their care and compassion and especially friendship over the years. Thank you Reverend John, Hector and Jose’ for visiting with John weekly. Those times were very special to him.

Graveside services for John will be celebrated in the summer at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to any charity to help children with disabilities The Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville has care of arrangements.
