Welcome to the memorial page for

Joanne M. Ashworth

June 27, 1959 ~ August 21, 2017 (age 58) 58 Years Old

Joanne Marianna Ashworth (Nee St. Onge), aged 58, of Plainville, daughter of Pauline and Treffle St. Onge passed away suddenly on August 21st.

A loved and loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, matante, cousin, and friend, Joanne was born in Southington and attended Bristol schools. During High School, Joanne would babysit for the children of several of the Bristol Red Sox players, including Butch Hobson, and Jim Rice, something of which she was proud. After high school, Joanne received her associate’s degree in accounting from Briarwood College. Joanne then worked for several firms as a bookkeeper, the last two being A&J Caulking in New Britain and Edison Coatings in Plainville, both of which she enjoyed working for. In 1989, Joanne, affectionate known as JoJo or Jo, married Scott Ashworth of Plainville, and together became known in fun as ScoJo (Scott and Joanne). The couple first made a home in Bristol but then settled in Plainville. Joanne loved to cook, especially baking. She loved to try new recipes often creating them herself. All made by hand, “never from a box”, as Joanne would say. To know if the new goodie was worthy of her “portfolio” of acceptable items, every Friday she would send the new treat with Scott to his place of work where they quickly became known as “Friday Treats”. People would come from around the facility to give their critique and rate them……most of the time as delicious and with a 4 forks rating (out of 4).  The couple also loved traveling, visiting most of Europe and the UK, Russia, Asia, and Mexico. In the more recent years, the couple loved exploring the US, visiting the west coast, southwest, northwest and east coast.

Joanne is survived by her husband Scott Ashworth, mother Pauline St. Onge, and sister Shirley Creech of Woodbridge, VA with husband Bill, and their sons Justin, and Brian. Joanne also leaves behind sister-in-laws, Jane Mossa and Kathleen Ashworth, brother-in-laws Fred Ashworth and Peter Mossa, several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews that she loved dearly. We love you Jojo and will miss you greatly!

A funeral mass for Joanne will be held at the church where Scott and Joanne were married, St. Matthew, located at 120 Church Ave in Forestville, on Saturday September 2nd at 10:00 am. Joanne was an organ donor. One piece of solace for the family has been the knowledge that she has helped countless persons with her gift of life through the donation of her organs. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate to the New England Donor Services, either Lifechoice or NEOB. Both can be found at http://neds.org
