Joan S. (Zettergren) Coburn

Joan S. (Zettergren) Coburn, 84, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Countryside Manor in Bristol.

Joan was born on February 5, 1935 in Plainville, daughter to the late Charles O. and Ruth (Erbe) Zettergren. She attended local schools graduating from Plainville High School in 1953. Joan loved the beach and simply just being by the shoreline. She enjoyed traveling down to Florida to visit with her daughter and excursions to Nantucket to enjoy all the island had to offer. She was an avid UCONN women’s basketball and Boston Red Sox fan. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Joan is survived by her son, Daniel Coburn and his wife, Tracy, of Farmington, her daughters, Susan Marinelli and her husband, Peter, of Plainville, and Marcy Korby, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher, Alyssa, and Sarah Marinelli and Trevor and Sara Coburn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Allen, Charles, and Jack Zettergren and Jean Goodreau, Ruth Neils, and Jill Schaffrick.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, December 10 from 5 to 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. A service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 6:30 PM. Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joan can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
