Jean M. Herko

Jean M. (Fabrizio) Knonenborg Herko, 89, of Berlin, formerly of Plainville, passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, April 28, 2017. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, George Herko, who predeceased her in 2002.

Jean was born on April 19, 1928 in New Britain, daughter to the late Joseph and Angelina (Ferretti) Fabrizio. She was a lifetime resident of Plainville who attended local schools graduating from Plainville High School. She was active in the local community with the Plainville Food Pantry and the Plainville Senior Center. She retired from North and Judd after a 33 year career. Jean and her husband, George, resided in Fort Myers, Florida for a few years before returning back to CT. She became active with Meals on Wheels during her time residing in Florida. Jean loved to dance and enjoyed sewing.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Angela Schwartz, of Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Barbara Fontana and her husband, Sebastian, of Rocky Hill, and Gail Panchak, of Kensington; her step-daughter, Susan DeBaise and her husband, Dom, of Kensington; her grandchildren, Alison Lee, Rip Riendaeu, Noah Schwartz, and Eli Schwartz; her great-grandchildren, John Lee, Lauren Lee, Noah Schwartz Jr., Grace Ann Schwartz, Danny Gunning, and Mirella Schwartz; her brother, John Fabrizio, of Plainville; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her companion and caregiver, Vivian. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her 10 brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 2 from 4 to 7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.
