Gladys Marie Merci, 91, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley in Plainville. She is now reunited with her loving husband, the late Albert T. Merci and her son, the late James R. Merci.
Gladys was born on April 16, 1929 in Thomaston, CT, daughter to the late George and Ethel (Hart) Boutieller. She was a longtime resident of Plainville and a member of the Plainville Senior Center. Gladys had worked for Gems Manufacturing as an assembler. She was a very well put together woman and maintained an impeccable home to raise her family in. She lived for her children and enjoyed being surrounded by loved ones. The matriarch of her family, she will be missed deeply by all that had the joy in knowing her.
Gladys is survived by her son, David T. Merci and his wife, Deborah, of Plainville, her daughter, Diane L. Merci, of Bristol, her grandchildren, Sandra Scoville and her partner, Kim, Kameron Merci and her partner, Niki, and David T. Merci, Jr. and his wife, Felecia. She is also survived by her great grandson, Gregory Colburn and his fiancé, Bianca, and her great-great grandson, Kaiden Colburn.
A graveside service in celebration of Gladys’ life will be held on Thursday, June 11 at 11 AM at the West Cemetery in Plymouth. Immediate family members are welcome to gather at the Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville on Thursday from 10 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd S #4b, Southington, CT 06489.
