June 1, 1932 ~ April 27, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Gilman Dumond, 84, of Plainville died peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born on June 1, 1932 in St. David, Maine, he was the son of the late Alsime and Leda (Lagasse) Dumond. On July 19, 1954 he married Rita Cote who predeceased him on June 20, 2001. Gilman and his wife, Rita, moved to Hartford, CT in 1957 and subsequently made their home in Plainville in 1965. He proudly worked for Tilcon/Tomasso for 37 years as a paving foreman. He was very well liked and respected by all who worked with him.

Gil very much enjoyed working on his home, yard and garden over the years. He and Rita enjoyed entertaining and had many parties at their home. He loved to dance and have a good time. He especially loved spending the summers with his grandchildren at their camp in Cross Lake, Maine. Nothing was more important to him than his family. He was a wonderful man, husband, father, pepere, brother, and friend. He never said no to anyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children, Michael Dumond, of Harwinton, Daniel Dumond and his wife, Shawn Marie, of Bristol, Donna Parr and her husband, Phil, of Canton; his beloved grandchildren Lee, Brian, Keith, Kyle, Cortlin, Kevin, Jessie, Sarah, David; and his great grandson, Kellan Parr. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Cheryl Dumond. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his brothers, Norman, Roland, Reno, Gilbert (Zune), and his sister, Nancy Berube. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence, Emileo, Gerald, and his sisters, Edwina Dufour, Lena (Tipi) Hebert, and Alphena Chasse.

Many thanks to all of you who have helped our family in the past months, especially to the staff at The Landing of Farmington and Seasons Hospice. We also want to extend a special thank you to Matante Nancy for all her help in caring for Dad over the past 16 years.
