Beverly Jean (Knox) Raymond, 92, of Plainville, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 20, 2018. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert E. Raymond, who predeceased her in 2015. Together they shared 67 loving years of marriage.
Beverly was born on May 1, 1926 in Waterbury, daughter to the late Purcell A. and Marjorie W. (Dickson) Knox and was a lifelong resident of Plainville. Beverly lived a blessed life filled with love and joy and was highly involved with many clubs and organizations in her community. She was an active member of the Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC, where she formerly taught Sunday school. Beverly was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, former member of the Ladies Choral Club of Thomaston, and the Past President of the Bucks and Does Square Dancing Club of Berlin. In addition, she was a member of the Plainville Senior Center. She retired as a classified clerk for reporters from the New Britain Herald, Plainville office, after 24 dedicated years of employment.
Beverly leaves her son, Robert J. Raymond, of Litchfield; her daughters, Joyce R. Hornblower, of Austin, TX, Jean R. Hedus and her husband, Robert, of Litchfield, and Janet L. Chepurna and her husband, Donald, of Waterbury; her 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Diane Raymond and her sons-in-law, Thomas Hornblower and Ralph Bird.
Family and friends may gather at the Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 1 until 4 PM. Funeral services for Beverly will be celebrated on Sunday, December 23 at 2 PM at the Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC, 130 West Main St. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with committal services will be held on Monday, December 24 at 10 AM at Hillside Cemetery in Thomaston.
