Anita (Blanchette) (Morneault) Burkhart Tribute

Anita (Blanchette) (Morneault) Burkhart, 87, of the Plantsville section of Southington, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 25, 2020. She was a longtime resident of Southington and was residing at The Summit At Plantsville for the last several years.

Anita was born in Frenchville, Maine on May 3, 1933, daughter to the late Phydeme and Blanche (LeBlond) Blanchette and was educated in Fort Kent Schools. She worked at New England Aircraft for over ten years. She loved Jesus and lived her life with faith in Him. Her family meant everything to her and she enjoyed the many Sunday dinners that she prepared for her family to all gather around the special “green table”, crafted by her husband. Anita was a talented seamstress and loved to sew special “Memere blankets” that each of her children and grandchildren cherished. Her family would use these blankets until they had holes and then some. Anita loved cheesecake and being spoiled by “her Conrad” with lobster rolls. Her son Jeffrey says, “She was a nice mom.” She was certainly a woman that was so loved by all that knew her. She will always be remembered as her family continues to carry on her loving and faithful legacy.

She leaves behind her children, Sharon Lavertue, of the Forestville section of Bristol, Jeffrey Morneault, of Plainville, Kathleen Kowalsky of Dothan, Alabama, and Sheila (Dan) Bouchard, of Terryville. She also leaves behind her “sons from another mother,” Conrad Corriveau and Chris (Shelly) Morneault; her stepchildren, Ileane (John) Elliotte, James (Sandy) Burkhart Jr., and Ruth (Brian) Teske; along with many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Burkhart Sr., her son, Donald Morneault and his wife, Kathy Morneault, her daughter, Gloria Corriveau, along with her granddaughter, Krista Stone and her great-grandson, Zachary Stone. She is also survived by her brother, Carl (Marilyn) Blanchette, of NH, Rinette Madore, of Maine, Claudette (Ray) Tardiff, of Maine, and Phil (Marylou) Blanchette, of NC, and many nieces and nephews.

“Mom, thank you for picking us as your family. You will be missed beyond measure. Love you.”

A special thank you to the staff at The Summit At Plantsville for their care of mom the past 6+ years. You are so appreciated!
