Serenalda Shoaf Tribute

Serenalda "Sarah" Shoaf, 79, of Meriden, formerly of Mt. Dora, Florida passed away on August 27, 2021 at Miller Memorial in Meriden. She was the wife of the late William (Bill) Shoaf.

She was born on May 8, 1942 in Aguada, Puerto Rico to the late Santiago and Luzselenia (Ruiz) Vazquez. Prior to her retirement she worked many years at Pratt and Whitney of Middletown. She was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford as well as Park Institute Hair Design where she obtained the certification of a cosmetologist.

Sarah will always be remembered as a devoted Catholic. She was incredibly talented and her creativity knew no bounds. She was a gifted artist with her beautiful paintings and embroidered cloths displayed throughout her home. Her true love was music and her home was always surrounded with it day or night. Her favorite pastime was dancing. With her bubbly personality and beautiful smile, her presence was made memorable wherever she went. She also had a love for Dino's clams!

Sarah will be dearly missed by her three daughters; Shirley and her husband Peter Ruffino, Barbara Jones, and Cynthia Stewart. She is also survived by her beloved big sister Edith Rabanel, cousin Nilda Nieves, aunt Rosin and her husband Bob McCarthy, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She leaves a legacy of twelve grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren.

Her family would like to extend a special thanks to their loving cousins Rosemarie and Linda who guided and supported the family through this difficult journey.

Services will be at the convenience of the family and Sarah's daughter Shirley Ruffino will host a celebration of life in Sarah's honor at a date to be announced.
