Michael Carne Cavanaugh

MERIDEN- Michael C. Cavanaugh, 80, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle was called to his eternal resting place on September 10, 2022 at MidState Medical center in Meriden. He entered this world on August 5, 1942 in Meriden, CT, born to the late Michael P. and Marjorie (Carne) Cavanaugh.

He is survived by his wife of 49 1/2 years, Nancy Heilman Cavanaugh; daughters Kristen Bellantuono (Paul); Michele Ruggiero (Ron) and Lisa Johnson (Greg); brother Dale Cavanaugh (Terry); nephew Rick Cavanaugh (Christy); and 6 grandchildren: Madyson, Josh, Michael, RJ, Kaylee and Xander. Michael was pre-deceased by his step-brother Richard Cavanaugh.

Michael served in the United States Air Force as a Loadmaster on a C-124 and C-130A from 1964 through 1970, and served in the Vietnam War. He was a hard-worker and wonderful provider for his family. He worked in the automotive industry the majority of his life and retired at the age of 78. Michael had a love for so many things: especially his "Rock"-Nancy, his 3 daughters "Triple-Trouble", his dog Chloe, his fish tanks, motorcycles, flying recreational planes, his train sets, sailing/boating, and eating clams off the grill in Leetes Island.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday September 17, 2022 at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home located at 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford, CT 06492. His family will receive visitors prior to the service from 10am to noon at the funeral home. Military honors will be rendered following the service outside of the Funeral Home. The B.C. Bailey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
