Lucille Cryan Tribute

WALLINGFORD - Lucille M. (Sicotte) Cryan, 81, departed this life on June 1, 2023, at Autumn Lake of Cromwell. She was the beloved wife of the late David S. Cryan.

Lucille was born in Salem, MA, on January 4, 1942 to the late Edmond and Anita (Maher) Sicotte. On September 7, 1963, Lucille married her fun-loving husband David in Salem, MA – quite honestly the best outcome from the ultimate switcheroo double date. In 1965, theymoved to Wallingford, CT, where their two children, Paul and Maryann, grew up with many adventures alongside their parents.

Lucille appreciated reading the local paper and socializing with family and friends at local establishments over a cold beer or simply cranberry juice. She also enjoyed rousing games of Duckpin/candlestick bowling, and of course miniature golf. But above all else, Lucille will be remembered as hard working, generous, and literal. She often worked multiple jobs at once to ensure her loved ones could benefit from her generosity. She had a very endearing logic in life, leading her to the conclusion that “fine for parking” meant it was perfectly acceptable to park in that location versus the standard interpretation that you would incur a fine if parked in that location. Her qualities as a whole led her to be a loving and compassionate soul to many.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Maryann Cryan-Murphy (and spouse Kelly Murphy); son Paul Cryan (and partner Maria Polito); sisters, Jeanne Brusso, Carol Newton (and husband Robert), and Florence Sicotte-Jones (and husband James Jones); brother, Paul Sicotte; sister-in- law Terry Cryan; granddaughter, Amanda Osgood; and several extended family members and friends.

Lucille was lovingly greeted in eternal rest by her dear husband, David, who she only covered for once at the nursing home so he could plan his daring escape…It is no doubt that he is already putting a smile on her face once again. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Jean Stockton (and husband Walter); and brother-in-law’s, Arthur Cryan (and wife Donna), Peter Cryan, and Brad Brusso.
