June Lehr Tribute

SOUTHINGTON- June (Morello) Lehr, 94, died at home on August 13, 2021. Originally from Brooklyn NY, she resided in Wallingford for 55 years before moving to Southington in 2004. June was born in Brooklyn,NY on June 9, 1927 to the late Frank and Jennie (Montagna) Morello. She was predeceased by her husband Paul C. Lehr, of 71 years. She was also predeceased by her daughter Christine Prentiss Wiggers, her granddaughter Jennifer Woods, and her sister Judith Mester. She leaves her loving children and their spouses; Paul and Ann Lehr, Carl and Lisa Lehr, Mark Lehr, John and Janine Hey. She basked in her grandchildren and their accomplishments, and wanted them to find happiness in their choices in life. They are Jennifer (deceased), Christopher, Jessica, Jamie, Daniel, Courtney, Stephanie, Kyle, Tim, Doug Jr and Carrie. She was a proud great grandmother to Shane, Jentel, Miranda, Delanney, Maddison, Jen, Mckensie and Zachary, and great great grandmother to Aiden and Emma. She also leaves her sister and spouse, Jean and Robert Basmajian and their children, her beloved niece and spouse, Donna and Roger Shipley and their children, and sons in law Douglas Wiggers and Bill Prentiss.

She was employed at International Silver, Factory L for several years before raising her ever growing family. Many years later she was hired by Father Merusi as secretary/bookkeeper for Holy Trinity School where she worked for 25 years, most of which were as Principal Sister Katie's sidekick. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister for 8 years; an active member of the Ladies Guild spending many hours creating crafts including a hand sewn quilt which was raffled off at Holy Trinity's annual Christmas Bazaar. She volunteered at the annual bazaar in Madison supporting the Auxiliary team of the Sisters of Mercy. She was also a Girl Scout leader, and a Den Mother. On any given weekend, June and Paul could be seen and heard cheering their children and grandchildren at their various activities. And of course, there were endless hours spent looking for crafts and antiques, a favorite for both.
