Claire K. Fowler

Claire (Kilcoyne) Fowler, 91, passed away on November 12, 2023 at Midstate Medical Center with her loving family at her side. She was born in New Haven, CT on October 27, 1932 to the late Leo and Orsolina (Meda) Kilcoyne.

Claire resided most of her life in Wallingford, CT. While raising five kids, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Connecticut State University and worked many years until retirement from Engineered Specialties Corporation.  After retirement, she spent her golden years at Ashlar Village and Masonic.  She was many things to many people. She loved being surrounded by her family and her friends whom she would host dinners and picnics for. Not only did Claire enjoy cooking, but she also enjoyed baking her famous bread, cinnamon bread, and Christmas cookies. She was an avid sewer, knitter and crocheter. As a young mother she would go camping with her five children where she enjoyed cooking and relaxing by the fire.  Despite losing her eyesight in her later years, she continued to enjoy books, playing cards and knitting prayer shawls for her church.  Claire loved her church and served as a deacon, trustee, Stewardship Committee member, and was a historian for the church. Following the birth of her granddaughter, Megan, she became a passionate advocate for catastrophic health care legislation in Connecticut. She served on the Board of the Wallingford Public Library, was a member of the National Honorary Education Association as well as MENSA.

Claire is survived by her five children: Earle C. (Patricia) Fowler, III of Wicklyff, OH; Sherry (John) Perkowski of Wallingford, CT; Marcia Mullins of Bridgman, MI; Craig (Sally) Fowler of McKinney, TX; Brenda (Mathew) Lyons of Flemington, NJ; as well as ten grandchildren: Heather (Christopher) Prokup of Suffield, CT; Kelly (Michael) O'Neill of Wallingford, CT; Megan Perkowski of Wallingford, CT; Peter Fowler of Tucson, AZ; Jordan (Jeffrey) Asman of Redondo Beach, CA; Nicole East of Plano, TX; Tanya East of Prosper, TX; Sarah Roby of McKinney, TX; Mathew (Julie) Lyons of Flemington, NJ; Lucas Lyons of Lambertville, NJ and eleven great-grandchildren: Summer and JT O'Neill of Wallingford, CT; Willow Asman of Redondo Beach, CA; Katherine and Theodore East of Prosper, TX; Collin East of Weatherford, TX; Marc and Zeke Roby of McKinney, TX; Benjamin and Isabelle Lyons of Flemington, NJ; and Lana Lyons of Lambertville, NJ.  She also leaves behind her sister Monica Barnett, two nieces and a nephew.

Claire is predeceased by her parents Leo and Orsolina Kilcoyne, and grandson Robert East.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Wallingford located at 23 S Main Street in Wallingford.  Relatives and friends may attend a public visitation on Thursday evening, November 16, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the B.C Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S.
