Carol Marie (Carotenuto) Pelzer

HIGGANUM / WOODBRIDGE - Carol Marie Pelzer, 79, departed this life on January 14, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John Pelzer. 

Carol was born in New Haven, CT on December 9, 1942 to Frank and Lillian (Kresta) Carotenuto.

Carol was a graduate of Hill House High school, New Haven CT and then went on to Elm City Cosmetology School. She was a hairdresser in the New Haven area for several years, which she enjoyed. She even cut her own hair a few weeks prior to passing. She married the love of her life shortly after graduation and later moved to Woodbridge. They had a special love for German shepherds. Their dogs were their children and she would do anything for her fur babies. Carol enjoyed spending time with family. 

Carol is survived by her niece, Michelle (Carotenuto) Weems and her husband James and Cecilia Carotenuto of Higganum as well as her Nephew, Marc Carotenuto and wife Jane of Northford. She is also survived by her brother Frank Carotenuto (Ronnie) of Hamden and her great nieces and nephews: Holly Carotenuto, Toby Carotenuto, Mason Weems and Devin Weems. We can't forget her favorite fur babies Jazzie, Koda and Lucy. 

In addition to her parents, Carol is predeceased by her husband John Pelzer and her aunt and uncle Alice and Gordon Kresta who she loved and missed dearly. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Thursday morning prior to mass from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home.
