Annmarie Gouin

WALLINGFORD - Annmarie Gouin, 89, of Wallingford, beloved wife of Leon J. Gouin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 9, 2022 after a brief illness.

Annmarie was born in Hartford, CT on January 24, 1933 to the late Estelle Dietl and Daniel Mullen of Manchester. She grew up in Manchester across the street from her future husband and graduated with high honors from Manchester High School. She was hired by Connecticut General Life Insurance Company and worked as a secretary for several years.

In 1953, Annmarie married Leon, the love of her life. During her marriage of 68 years, she devoted her life to taking care of her family and her greatest joy was spending time with them. Annmarie also loved nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed cross-country skiing, golfing, identifying wild flowers and birds, and planting her beautiful gardens. She was a talented artist in drawing, sewing, and quilting, and excelled in her watercolor and oil paintings of nature scenes. Annmarie was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Wallingford Country Club. She also was an honorary lifetime member of the Wallingford Garden Club and served as President for two years.

Annmarie is survived by her husband, Leon, her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Paul Hoey of Worcester, MA, her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jeanine Gouin of Durham, her daughter and grandchildren, Suzanne, Erica and Andrej Chludzinski of Easton, and her granddaughter and great grandchildren, Elissa, Harper and Zuri Haroz of Washington, DC.  She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law; Daniel and Patricia Mullen of Spring Hill, Florida and her sister and brother-in-law; Patricia and Dave McNally of Kingman, AZ.  Annmarie is predeceased by her son, Leon Joseph (Joey) Gouin Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:00AM at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford.  Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery.
