Ronald E. Desell

Ronald E. Desell, 62, of New Britain, formerly of Southington, passed away Tuesday July 4, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Joanne (Everitt) Desell.

Ronald was born May 25, 1955 in New Britain a son of the late Charles E. and Bertha (Tuttle) Desell and was a longtime New Britain resident. He attended E.C. Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain. Ronald was the owner and operator of Quality Cars Auto Body and was well known by his peers for his craftsmanship. He was extremely meticulous in everything he did and always strove for perfection. He had also worked for Lyons Slitting in Waterbury for 4 years. Ronald loved sports, especially football and was a fan of the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed car racing and had traveled around the area to watch many races. Ronald also love boating and waterskiing. Having grown up on a farm, he enjoyed gardening and growing his own vegetables. Ronald loved dining out with his family and friends at his many favorite restaurants.

Besides his wife Joanne, he leaves his sons, Ronald E. Desell, Jr. of New Britain and Aaron L. Desell of Middletown, his brothers, Charles Desell of Bristol and David Desell of Southington, his sisters, Jean Angelone of Plantsville and Donna Grigerek of Bristol and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Dwight Desell.

Funeral services in celebration of Ronald’s life will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at The Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville. Burial will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery in Southington. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
