Marcel R.J. Boilard

Marcel R.J. Boilard, 86, of Plainville passed away Tuesday November 14, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain with his devoted family at his side. He was the loving husband of Maryange (Vielleux) Boilard with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

Marcel was born in New Britain a son of the late Joseph R. and Alice (Camden) Boilard and was a longtime Plainville resident. He was a tool and die maker at Delto Tool in New Britain retiring after many years of service. Marcel proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Army in the 7th Division during the Korean War were he was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart and 2 camp Stars. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion Brock Barnes Post 33 of Plainville. He was an avid duckpin bowler, New York Yankee and UConn Huskies fan and enjoyed pitching horseshoes. Marcel loved fishing, hunting and his log cabin in Vermont, where he had held family reunions. He enjoyed vacationing to Las Vegas with his sister Carmella, her husband Donald, his nephew Michael and the Duke. He also loves gardening, raising rabbits and his canine companion Hailey. Marcel was a longtime Communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.

Besides his wife Maryange, he leaves his children, Suzanne Skrzypek and her husband Paul of Southington, Robert Boilard and his wife Lisa of Plainville, JoAnn Robideau and her husband Brian of Bristol, Roxanne Moore and her husband David of Plainville and Lisa Soucie and her late husband Wayne of Plainville, his brothers, Norman Boilard and his wife Lucille of Plainville and Paul Boilard and his wife Sheila of Vernon, his grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Justin, Crystal, Andrew, Shawn, Jacob, Sarah, Jessie, Brianna and Bella, his great grandchildren, Skylar, Ethan, Christian, Nolan and Jaden and many nieces and nephews. Marcel was predeceased by his daughter, Alice Moore and his sisters and their husbands Carmella (Boilard) and Donald McKeon and Ida (Boilard) and Emile Michaud.

Funeral services in celebration of Marcels life will be held on Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Our Lady of Mercy Church 94 Broad Street in Plainville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Plainville. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mulberry Gardens of Southington Adult Daycare 58 Mulberry Street Plantsville, CT 06479.
