Welcome to the memorial page for

Lucy Cannarella

July 13, 1923 ~ November 3, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Lucy (Jarvis) Cannarella, 94, of Plainville, passed away comfortably in her home on November 3.  She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Andrew J. Cannarella.  Born July 13, 1923 to Sebastiano and Rosa (Arcidicono) Gervasi in New Britain, CT, Lucy grew up playing with her cats, dogs, and horses on the family farm until she was old enough to sneak out for long nights of dancing with friends.  She lived in Plainville for 50 years and spent many years working as a machine operator for General Electric.  Mitzi to her friends, she always maintained an active social life, hosting her monthly card games and attending outings with the Plainville Senior Center.  Her family was everything to her, and when you were in her home, you were family.  She could often be found in a lawn chair next to her husband cheering on her grandchildren’s various athletic teams or attending their concerts.  She’ll be remembered for her traditional family gatherings on Christmas Eve.  Lucy never had a bad word to say about anyone and was never without her engaging sense of humor.  She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed dearly.

Lucy is survived by a son, Thomas Cannarella, and his wife Gail; daughter Nancy Niedzwiecki; daughter-in-law Lynn Corbatt; five grandchildren: Allison, Matthew, Susan, Sara, and Max, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Danny; sister, Anna; and brothers, Michael, John, and Paul. Funeral services in celebration of Lucy's life will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville. Calling hours will be held Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9 AM until 10 AM. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lucy can be made to Bristol Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 977, Bristol, CT 06010.
