Louis Bernard Harkins, Sr.

Louis Bernard Harkins, Sr., 83, of Plainville, passed away Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Amberwoods of Farmington. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Dorbuck) Harkins.

Louis was born June 6, 1934 in Hall Quarry, Maine a son of the late Thomas and Pauline (Liscomb) Harkins and was a longtime Plainville resident. He attended schools in Hall Quarry and proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Louis was a Police Officer, serving the City of New Britain for 26 years, retiring in 1991 as Lieutenant. He served as the past Commander of the American Legion Brock Barnes Post 33 in Plainville. Louis loved studying history and also enjoyed watching the History Channel.

He leaves his son, Louis B. Harkins, Jr, of Plainville his daughter, Pauline Sacco of New Britain and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends may gather at the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville on Tuesday October 24, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be celebrated privately.
