Julia M. (Carmichael) Chiarizio, 75, of the Forestville section of Bristol, passed away Sunday February 11, 2018 at home in the arms of her husband, Peter J. Chiarizio Jr.

Judy was born March 11, 1942 in Middletown, a daughter of the late Robert and Rosalie (Dunn) Carmichael and has been a Forestville resident for the past 51 years. She was a graduate of Platt High School in Meriden and Saint Francis School of Nursing in Hartford. Judy later attended Central Connecticut State University and Saint Joseph College earning her Bachelor Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the World War II Veterans Memorial Hospital in Meriden, later becoming Mid-State Medical Center, where she served as the Infection Control Officer, then retiring after four decades of caring for others. Judy’s interests varied widely and she excelled at anything she tried, whether it was swimming or making wedding cakes.  Judy loved cooking for her family and friends, seeing Mickey at Disney World then traveling afterward, and dining at area restaurants with her husband. She was a longtime Communicant of Saint Matthew Church in Forestville.

Besides her loving husband Peter, she leaves her sons, Peter J. Chiarizio, III and his wife Jeri of Lebanon and Robert A. Chiarizio of Palm Bay, FL, her daughters, Patricia Lukasiewicz and her husband Gary of Bristol and April A. Schiller and her husband Barry of Tucson, AZ, her grandchildren, Casey, Katelyn, Jonathan, Jenna, and Tyler, her sisters, Elizabeth Mainuli and her husband Joseph of Bristol and Cathy Fox and her husband Joseph of Pawley’s Island, SC and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services in celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Saint Matthew Church 120 Church Avenue in the Forestville section of Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Family and friends may gather at the funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center of Connecticut 1261 South Main Street Plantsville, CT 06479.
