Joseph I. LaFrance, 81 of Plainville formerly of Bristol, passed away Wednesday December 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Ouellette) LaFrance.

Joseph was born April 5, 1936 in Fort Kent, Maine, a son of the late Joseph D. and Roseanna (Levesque) LaFrance. He was a ‘Jack of all trades”, having worked as a meat cutter, salesman, realtor, and builder. Along with his wife Patricia they owned and operated P&J Upholstery in Bristol for many years. Joseph was known for his woodworking and “green thumb” in the garden. He particularly enjoyed growing tomatoes. Joseph also served in the National Guard for 8 years.

Joseph leaves his daughters, Theresa Misluk and her husband David of Plainville, Mary Lou Cadorette of Bristol and Sue Cody and her husband Donald of Plainville, his son, Joey LaFrance and his wife Cathy of Terryville, his sisters, Theresa Parsons of Kissimmee, FL, Rosaline Pelletier and her husband Raynold of Bristol and Leona Martin of Bristol, his grandchildren, Tracy, Matthew, Deitra, Todd, Kaitlyn, Derek, Landon and Danielle, his great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Sophia, Parker and Piper and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Michael, his brothers, Irene, Leonard, Jean-Louis, Rosaire, Ernest and Leon and his sisters, Sister Ida, Irma and Bertha.

A graveside service in celebration of Joseph’s life will be held on SATURDAY January 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Joseph Cemetery 522 Terryville Avenue in Bristol. There are no calling hours. The Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville has care of arrangements.
