Johanna (Dirrigl) Lanzl

November 17, 1929 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Johanna Lanzl, 87, beloved wife of John Lanzl (predeceased), passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017. She was born to the late Michael and Karolina (Zankl) Dirrigl on November 17, 1929.

While born in Brooklyn, New York, Johanna was raised by family in Walderbach, Germany until after WWII, when she and her husband immigrated to the United States to start and raise a family. Johanna worked as a homemaker and lived in Plainville for 70 years. Johanna was a wonderful cook and always had something tempting to eat for anyone who visited her kitchen. She enjoyed knitting, trips to the casino, and fishing right alongside of her husband at the Bristol Fish and Game Association.

Johanna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Debra Lanzl, of Plantsville, and her daughter and son-in-law, Heidy and James Kaine, of Plainville; her grandchildren, Elisa, Eric and Jill; her great grandchildren, Ella, Madeline, Carter, and Sierra; her brothers, Robert Dirrigl, of Marlborough and Herbert Dirrigl, of Plainville; her sister, Greta Moore, of Plainville; and her extended family of nieces and nephews. Johanna was predeceased by her sister, Karolina Bernier, of Las Vegas, Nevada.

We wish to deeply thank our friends who provided loving care and support to our Mother. A special thank you goes to our Mother’s dear friend of over 50 years, Ruth, for her steadfast support and love.

A service in celebration of Johanna’s life will begin on Tuesday, November 28, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad Street, Plainville. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday morning between 10 and 11 AM prior to the service beginning. Burial will follow in Forestville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made in our Mother’s name to The Bristol Adult Resource Center, PO Box 726, Bristol, CT 06010-0726.
