Jeneanne Marie (Detour) Cox

Jeneanne Marie (Detour) Cox, 71, of Bristol, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 after a 17 year courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife for 53 years to Colon Cox.

Jeneanne was born on September 14, 1945, in Patten, Maine, daughter to Irma Porter Detour and the late David Detour. Jeneanne was a kind hearted, strong woman, who touched the lives of everyone she met. Family was the center of her life and she enjoyed spending time with them. She was employed by Economy Spring and Stamping for over 20 years, working as a foot press operator and establishing many lasting friendships with her coworkers. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband and mother, Jeneanne is survived by her children, Bradley Cox, Brian Cox, Elizabeth “Lisa” Cox, Shelly Cox, and Robin Cruz, all of Bristol; her grandchildren, Kyle, Corey, Amber, Taylor, Kylie, Noah, Shana, Jacob, Alexia, and Maggie; her great-grandson, Luis; her siblings, Wesley, Michaeline, Michael, Wendell, Annette, Paula, all of Maine, and Glenn, of Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was predeceased by her father, her brother, Wyland “Butch” Detour, and her granddaughter, Kennedy.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville on Sunday, July 23 from 2 to 4 PM with a service in celebration of Jeneanne’s life beginning at 4 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jeneanne can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis,TN, 38148, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or to the charity of your choice.
