Jeffrey A. Briggs, 68, of Plainville, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 37 years to Maureen (Connelly) Briggs.

Jeff was born on April 6, 1949, son to Richard Briggs, of Cromwell, and the late Marilyn (Oltmans) Briggs and grew up in Lexington, MA.  He was a wonderful husband and father, and all around family man, with a great sense of humor. He loved to cook, especially for his annual Super Bowl party. He enjoyed golfing, kayaking, hiking, and traveling with his wife, Maureen. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Housing Authority Insurance Group where he made many lasting friendships.

In addition to his wife, Maureen, Jeff is survived by his son, Kevin Briggs, of Worcester, MA, his brother, Robert Briggs, of South Boston, his sister, Sally Mason, of Visalia, CA, his brothers-in-law, Bill Connelly, of Hartford, Ned (Gerry) Connelly, of Hamden, Tim (Beth) Connelly, of Cromwell, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn Briggs, and his grandparents, Molly and Royal Briggs and John and Lillian Oltmans, and his brother-in-law, Brian J. Connelly.

Friends and family are welcome to gather in celebration of Jeff’s life on Sunday December 17 from 2-4 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. Burial will be held privately in Saint Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Plainville Food Pantry, 54 S Canal St., Plainville, CT 06062 or Family Promise of Central Connecticut, 40 Cornelius Way, New Britain, CT 06051.
