Jayne Krane

December 24, 1921 ~ February 9, 2018 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Jayne Scott Krane, passed away on Friday February 9, 2018.  Born on December 24, 1921, the first daughter of Susan Ryan and George J. Scott. Jayne was the oldest of eight siblings, growing up in Bristol before moving to Southington to raise her family.  She was the adoring mother of nine sons and one daughter, and loving “Nana” of 22 grandchildren.

A proud Irish Catholic Democrat for life.  She loved reading non-fiction, historical literature and poetry.  Jayne cherished 50 summers vacationing on Long Island Sound at Point ‘O Woods Beach in South Lyme.

She loved listening to music and adored her husband Merrill, whose vocation was pharmacy and avocation , a tenor saxophonist.  “Mother” was a careful and sensitive observer of life and made parenting her raison d’ etre.  She was ever the source of encouragement for her brood and unapologetically supportive of their activities, interest, and aspirations.  Jayne was a critical thinker and not one to suffer fools gladly, and never one to mince words.  A life-long student and intellectual, after birthing ten children, Jayne enrolled as an adult student at CCSC studying Psychology and English Literature.

Jayne is predeceased by her husband Merrill, sons Rourke Patrick and Jeremy Ryan, and grandchildren Christopher Michael, Padriac Timothy, and Cassandra Jayne.

Jayne is survived by her daughter Erin-Nora and sons Jonathan, Christopher, Kiernan, Neil, Damon, Sean and Reagan, along with her loving sisters Marilou Zimbouski and Suzanne Acampoora and faithful friend Louise Goodspeed and nineteen grandchildren.  Many thanks to TouchPoints for their tender care and comfort they provided our mother in her final years.

“We will ‘never forget’ the sound of your bangles and clogs, and will be forever grateful for all you’ve taught us” Our sincere condolences, to all who knew and loved Jayne.

A celebration of Jayne’s life will be held on Tuesday February 13, 2018, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  Family and friends may gather prior to the Mass from 9-10 a.m at the church.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville is assisting the family.
