Francis H. Murphy, Jr, 88 of Bristol, passed away Monday July 17, 2017 at Bristol Hospital. He was the loving husband of Annette (Gaumond) Murphy, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

Mr. Murphy was born February 1, 1929 in New Britain a son of the Late Francis H. and Irene (Mindeline) Murphy, Sr. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and had worked at General Electric as well as with his father, who had co-owned the Plainville Duck Pin Bowling Alley.  In 1951 he enlisted in the US Army and had worked as a mechanic while being stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1953, he married his love Annette and returned to General Electric where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1988. After his retirement, he and Annette moved to Beverly Hills, FL, where they lived for 26 years. While in Florida, he worked with the Beverly Hills Surveillance Unit for 22 years, serving as Captain for 4 years and as Lieutenant for 2 years. He was also a member of the Beverly Hills Fishing Club and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and attended Our Lady of Grace Church. In Bristol he attended Saint Matthew Church. He also enjoyed family vacations and cruises, having traveled to Alaska and most of the Islands of the Caribbean.

Besides his wife Annette he leaves his children, William Murphy of Forestville, Diane Blake and her husband David of Enfield and Gail Ciervo and her husband Mark of Bristol and his grandchildren Heather, Morgan and Rachel. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Ashley Blake and his brother Robert Murphy.

Funeral services in celebration of Mr. Murphy’s life will be held on Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m. from the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville to Saint Matthew Church 120 Church Avenue in the Forestville section of Bristol at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
