David Russell Sears

David Russell Sears, 79, of New Britain, passed away Monday October 30, 2017 at his home.

David was born February 19, 1938 in Hartford a son of the late Fred and Doris E. (Stalker) Sears. He attended Plainville schools and was employed by the Town of Plainville on the Street Department retiring after 34 years of service. David was a member of the New Britain Quartette Club for over 40 years, where he took great pride in caring for the clubs flower gardens. He was a fan of UCONN Huskies Basketball and the New England Patriots. David was an avid puzzle maker and card player and also enjoyed trips to the casino and bird watching.

David leaves his companion and partner, Patricia Gordon of New Britain, his daughters, Lori Sazinski and her husband John of South Windsor and Susan Spisak of Bristol, his son Russell Sears of Middletown, his sisters, Nancy France of Unionville, Alice Rudy of Plainville, Patricia Thompson of Iowa, Linda Young of Texas and Joan Griffin of Arizona, his brother, Ronald Sears of Florida, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Shirley Sears and his brother, Mark Sears.

Family and friends may gather at the Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad Street in Plainville on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be celebrated privately. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
