Welcome to the memorial page for

Teresa M. Welch

September 28, 1931 ~ April 4, 2014 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Teresa “Terry” (Monteiro) Welch, 82, peacefully left this world on April 4, 2014, surrounded by family. Terry dedicated her life to her loved ones. With four children and five grandchildren, she had many others who called her “Ma.” Her legacy and spirit of kindness, selflessness and belief in others will carry on for a long time in others’ hearts.

Terry was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Judi Welch. In addition, Terry leaves behind her daughter, Marie Dexter, son-in-law, Barry Dexter, and grandchildren, James Irving and Melanie Dexter; daughter, Elizabeth St. Pierre; son, Jack Welch, daughter-in-law, Tracy Welch, and grandchildren, Jaimi Welch, Logan Welch, and Jessica Subocz; as well as many other relatives, dear friends, and those who Terry called family whether or not they were ever related.

For many years, Terry, along with her friends and family, could be found fishing in the Connecticut or Farmington rivers. For hours Terry could patiently wait to catch a fish with the perfect lure and a great book by her side. Despite her love of fishing and the outdoors, she did have her daily indoor tradition as well. Beginning in the mid-1950s through the rest of her life, she hardly ever missed an episode of her daytime soaps. Characters came and went, but Terry was always there watching from 12:30 to 2 each day.

It was George Eliot who said, “What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life – to be with each other in silent, unspeakable memories,” but it was Teresa Welch who lived it with her family and those she chose to call family. So when you hook your next fish, pick up a book you cannot put down or watch that show you feel like you have been watching forever, think of Terry.

Family and friends may gather on Wednesday evening, from 6-8 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville.  Words of remembrance will be held at the conclusion of the visitation, at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Terry may be remembered with a contribution to the favorite charity of your choice.
