Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret E. Kryszak

September 15, 1923 ~ July 12, 2014 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth (Street) Kryszak, 90, of New Britain, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 12, 2014

She was the loving and caring wife of the late Joseph R. Kryszak for over 50 years.
Margaret was a life-long resident of New Britain and was born there on September 15, 1923.  She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Street (Luby), attended local schools in New Britain and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Margaret began her working career as the Office Manager at the Firestone Tire Company in New Britain where she met her life-long friend, Martha Worobel.
The two became inseparable.  Margaret left her position at Firestone to raise her two sons, Robert and James; returning later to begin a new career as Office Manager at New England Aircraft Products Company in Farmington for over 25 years where she was not only a manager, but a mentor and “mother” for all who she interacted with.  “Peggy” as she was known, provided unending support, both professionally and personally to all of the employees.
Margaret was loved by all who came to know her and possessed a wonderful sense of humor, which she graciously passed on to her two sons.  She had a great love for animals and would often act as “referee” when either son (usually Bob) would bring home a random stray dog or cat and yes, even a rabbit or two.
She would frequently speak of her home life as a child, describing it as “a lovely home life where there was always laughter”.  She learned to play poker at the age of 9.
As a young child, Margaret’s love of adventure seemed unending.  Even at the age of 10, she thought nothing of, as she would say; “packing my little suitcase and take the Greyhound bus by myself to West Springfield to visit my aunt and uncle.”
Margaret was a charter member of St. Maurice Church in New Britain, and in addition to serving in various capacities for the AARP Chapter #4146 and a member of the Plainville Senior Center, Margaret regularly donated her time to the American Red Cross along with many social and charitable functions in New Britain and Plainville.
Margaret was also an avid fan of the UCONN women and men’s basketball teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants.

Margaret is survived by her son Robert and his companion Kathleen Kilduff of New Britain, who cared for our mom as she would her own; son James of Southington, her dear sister Dorothy Field of New Britain; the “daughter she never had”, Diane Scibek and her husband, Bill;  her sister’s in law, Freda Kryszak of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Helen Wiernasz of Southington; four grandchildren; Kate, Kimberly, Kelly and Michael; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Maurice Church in New Britain.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Plainville.  Calling hours will be Monday, from 4-7 at the funeral home.

Margaret’s sons wish to extend their sincere appreciation and ask that memorial donations be made to the amazing caregivers at VITAS Innovative Hospice Care who cared for our mom and allowed her to remain in her home with dignity and grace; the same home that she and our dad built in 1960.
